After our delightful wedding, we started 2012 on our honeymoon to the beautiful Caribbean island of Roatan, Honduras.
One of our more memorable honeymoon adventures was a voyage on the Idabel submarine. We journeyed 1500 feet below the surface into the Cayman Trench. We saw many bizarre deep-sea creatures through the four-inch thick domed viewing window at the front of the sub. For scale, you might see two green laser pointer dots in some of the footage that are a constant four inches apart.
In May, Shaunda graduated from Duke Law School in Durham, North Carolina. Shaunda became a lawyer, and David became a real man, according to the t-shirt given him by his mother-in-law.
After Shaunda's graduation, we found ourselves footloose and fancy free, so we spent the summer adventuring in the outdoors and moving across the country while Shaunda studied for the bar.

David had two expeditions on Mt. Adams and two expeditions out to the South Cascade glacier in a remote part of the North Cascades, all within a few weeks.

Shaunda and David having fun living a balanced life
In August, we moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where Shaunda got a job working as a clerk for one of the justices on the Utah Supreme Court. David is keeping himself occupied by getting an MBA from the University of Utah.
On our fifth day in Salt Lake City, we bought this cute little house. We remodeled the basement to make it a separate apartment, which we rented out to a former classmate of David's who moved to Salt Lake City shortly after we did. Our parents visited in October and were a great help in turning our house into a home.
During our evenings after school and work, we rearranged some walls to give our guest and master closets more useable space.
Our house is close to the airport, downtown Salt Lake City, and the Mormon Temple Square.

Lucky for David, the house's previous owner needed a place to park his backhoe. David has had altogether too much fun digging giant holes to plant tiny trees in our backyard.
Come visit us in Utah! Even if you just have a layover in the Salt Lake City airport, we only live 10 minutes away so we are happy to pick you up and take you out for lunch. If you have longer, you can stay in our newly remodeled guest room and we can go skiing in the greatest snow on earth, or visit a spectacular national park like Bryce Canyon (pictured).
We wish you all the best in 2013, and please stay in touch!
